Which sites are “trailer friendly” at Mesa Verde campground?
Ramble provides a range of campsites suitable for larger vehicles such trucks and vans. There are no water, sewer, or electric hookups available at our campground. Please note that we do not offer any Trailer friendly sites at this location.

What should I pack for my trip to Ramble at Mesa Verde?
Ramble at Mesa Verde is located in a high desert climate characterized by warm summers, cool evenings, and relatively mild winters. During the summer months, temperatures can soar during the day, up to 90 degrees, but drop significantly at night in the 40s, making layers essential for comfort. When packing for your camping trip, consider what kinds of activities you plan to enjoy along with the variable climate to make sure you’re comfortable at camp. And don’t worry. If you happen to forget any items at home, Ramble has a camp store on site that offers a variety of provisions including freeze dried food, toiletries and merchandise.
Shelter and Sleeping:
- Tent
- Sleeping bags rated for cooler temperatures
- Sleeping pads or air mattresses for insulation from the ground
- Pillows and extra blankets for added warmth
- Tent footprint or ground tarp for protection against moisture
Cooking and Food Prep:
- Lighter or waterproof matches ( Ramble provides a grill lighter at the campsite)
- Cooking utensils (pots, pans, spatula, etc.)
- Cooler with ice packs
- Food storage containers and sealable bags
- Non-perishable food items and snacks
- Fresh food such as fruits, vegetables, and meats
- Drinking water or water filtration system (Ramble as has potable water at campsite sinks and a spigot near the bath house for refills)
Clothing and Personal Items:
- Weather-appropriate clothing (lightweight and breathable for daytime, warmer layers for evenings)
- Sturdy hiking boots or shoes
- Rain gear (jacket and pants)
- Hat with a brim for sun protection
- Sunglasses
- Swimsuit for any water activities ( Ramble has an onsite splash pad)
- Quick-dry towels
- Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, biodegradable soap, etc.)
- Sunscreen and insect repellent
- First aid kit with essentials like bandages, antiseptic wipes, and pain relievers
Camping Gear:
- Lanterns or headlamps with extra batteries
- Multi-tool or Swiss Army knife
- Rope or para-cord for various purposes
- Duct tape for quick repairs
- Trash bags for waste disposal

What is the parking situation like at Ramble at Mesa Verde?
Ramble offers convenient parking spaces which are adjacent to the campsite aside from Adventure campsites, which are walk-in only. To make sure you’re prepared to park your vehicle(s) at your campsite, please review the parking dimensions below. Ramble does have an overflow parking lot near the Welcome Center, but you can not camp at the parking lot overnight.

Campground Directions: 12251 Road 31 Mancos, CO 81328 United States
If you’re leaving from Denver:
- Head south on I-25 S from Denver.
- Continue on I-25 S. Take US-160 W to US-491 S in Cortez.
- Take the US-491 S exit from US-160 W.
- Follow US-491 S to your destination, Ramble at Mesa Verde National Park
- If you are using Google Maps and your directions are leading you astray, you can type in “Phil’s World North Trailhead” and navigate to the campground. Ramble is about a 1 minute drive from the trailhead.
If you’re leaving from Durango:
- Head northwest on US-550 N/Main Ave toward W College Dr.
- Continue on US-550 N. Pass through Hermosa and continue on US-550 N.
- Turn left onto US-160 W.
- Continue on US-160 W. Take the US-491 S exit toward Cortez.
- Merge onto US-491 S.
- Continue on US-491 S to your destination, Ramble at Mesa Verde National Park

If you’re leaving from Moab:
- Head south on US-191 S from Moab.
- Continue on US-191 S. Cross the Colorado state line.
